It recently was brought to my attention through a video I did on Beauty Pie how some you tubers are very subtle in the fact that their videos are in all actually an AD for the company of the products they are reviewing. Maybe I am just naive.

When I realized that many of the videos I was clicking on that talked about Beauty Pie (this is just an example…I am not picking on BP, but I am in the midst of deciding whether or not I think their product and service is indeed worth the money.) were ADS, I felt rather betrayed / duped.

I think this is very sad that you feel like you are developing a relationship with a youtuber and a sense of trust in that person only to find that sometimes the praise of the products is because of a sponsorship. I guess I have a lot to learn.

I am not really comfortable with this type of marketing at all. In fact I never liked sales and marketing because I felt it was highly manipulative. They study psychology and use it against the consumers to convince us to buy their products!

But at the same time there are brands that I enjoy! I am not denying that. I just want to know that what someone says is true and not influenced by their receiving something in return ($) otherwise it doesn’t mean anything.

I will visiting this topic soon. I am a bit frustrated with this issue today!
